Daniel Chou defended his Ph.D.
Congratulations to Daniel Chou, who successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis entitled “Deep learning characterization and mechanical ranking of microstructure features in geomaterials” today, to earn the title of Doctor of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) from the Georgia Institute of Technology! Daniel’s committee included ChloĆ© Arson (Georgia Tech/Cornell, CEE), Jorge Macedo (Georgia Tech, CEE), David Goldsman (Georgia Tech, Industrial and Systems Engineering), Steve Sun (Columbia University, Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics), and Richard Regueiro (University of Colorado Boulder, Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering). Daniel was praised for the quality of his research work and the structure of his presentation. He was also commanded for his ability to answer many difficult questions in a deliberate and honest fashion. Congratulations, Dr. Chou!
